CIFA hosts International Funds Summit 2016

A packed ballroom at Limassol’s Grand Resort greeted lively presentations and discussion as the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) hosted the International Funds Summit 2016.

Delegates were treated to a number of interesting and enlightening talks from a panel of eminent speakers from across Europe and further afield.

Early in the first session, the audience heard the Chief Executive of the Bank of Cyprus, John Hourican and the Minister of Finance for the Republic, Mr Harris Georgiades both praising the country’s determination and success in climbing out of the financial crisis that had beset the economy and especially the banking sector in 2013.

However, much food for thought was offered by Mr Hourican and others who pointed the way for Cyprus to regain its rightful place as a leading regional financial centre. The audience clearly accepted the challenge and there was unanimous agreement that whilst there was much to be done, the political and financial sector drive in Cyprus is strong and very much behind the desire to regain the country’s momentum across the funds, banking and business sectors generally.

The quality of the conference, its speakers and the enthusiasm and support shown by all those present, bodes well for the success of the objectives shared by all sectors of the Cyprus business community.
